NMN reverses aging in humans
Mostly falseThe Claim
NMN is widely sold as an anti-aging molecule that restores youthful NAD+ levels and turns back the biological clock in people.
Origin
The claim comes from mouse studies in which NMN improved age-related decline, amplified by longevity influencers and supplement marketing.
What Science Says
Human trials consistently show that oral NMN raises blood NAD+ levels, but a 2026 systematic review of 33 human intervention studies found effects on functional, metabolic and other healthspan outcomes to be heterogeneous and often null, and concluded that clinical anti-aging effectiveness remains inconclusive. A 2025 meta-analysis of RCTs in adults over 60 found no significant effect of NMN on muscle mass, grip strength, gait speed or chair-stand performance.
