NMN improves blood sugar and cholesterol

Mostly false

The Claim

NMN is often promoted as a metabolic booster that improves insulin sensitivity, blood glucose and blood lipids.

Origin

Rodent studies of diet-induced diabetes and one small trial in prediabetic women showing improved muscle insulin sensitivity fueled the claim.

What Science Says

A 2024 meta-analysis of 8 RCTs (342 middle-aged and older adults, 250–2000 mg/day for 2–12 weeks) found no significant benefit of NMN on fasting glucose, fasting insulin, HbA1c, HOMA-IR or the lipid profile. The evidence base is small and mostly in relatively healthy adults, so short-term metabolic benefits have not been demonstrated.

Verdict

Mostly False
