Ginger stops pregnancy nausea and vomiting

Partially true

The Claim

Ginger is widely recommended as a natural fix for morning sickness that relieves both nausea and vomiting in pregnancy.

Origin

Ginger has a long history as a folk remedy for upset stomach and is a common non-drug suggestion for pregnant women.

What Science Says

A meta-analysis of 12 randomized trials (1,278 pregnant women) found ginger significantly improved nausea symptoms compared with placebo, but did not significantly reduce the number of vomiting episodes. No increased risk of miscarriage, heartburn or drowsiness was found, although the overall quality of evidence was low.
